Stanley Moss
Coach Stanley Moss is a graduate of
Chapman High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After high school he began his college playing career at USC-Spartanburg (now USC-Upstate). After a year at USCS
he moved to Lander
University where
he was a four-year starter in the outfield under former Coach Rusty Stroupe. While at Lander Stanley earned all-conference honors and was a team leader and captain. He
graduated from Lander in 2001 with a degree in physical education.
Stanley began his coaching career as JV coach at Greenwood High School in 2002.
After spending two years coaching the JV he became head coach in 2004. While at Greenwood the Eagle Baseball Program had its best season in 2006 when they were defeated in the
3rd round of the state playoffs. In 2007 Stanley moved to Byrnes
High School in Duncan, SC where he served as assistant coach for Rebels for a year before returning to Greenwood in 2008 as Head Coach for the Vikings. He is currently in his 4th
year at Emerald.
Stanley is a well-known baseball figure across the upstate. He has served in numerous camps including the nationally
acclaimed Clemson Baseball Camp at Clemson University. He
has also served as an assistant coach for the Greenwood Post 20 American Legion team and head coach for the Carolina Heat Showcase baseball club out of Hickory, NC. He frequently attends
camps and clinics across the upstate and is a member of the South
Carolina Baseball Coaches Association (SCBCA).
Stanley is married to Joni Moss and they
have one son, Hudson and a daughter Harper. Stanley is a physical education and weightlifting teacher at Emerald while Joni teaches at Springfield Elementary. They are avid Clemson Tiger fans and
can be found tailgating in Death Valley on Saturdays.
Jimmy Owen - C-Team Coach / Catching Coach
Coach Jimmy Owen is a 1988 graduate of Blacksburg High School. During
his time at Blacksburg, Jimmy lettered 4 years in baseball
and 3 years in football. He received All-Conference and Offensive MVP Awards during his senior season
in baseball. Jimmy also played 3 seasons for Bessemer City American Legion
Post 243. He attended Erskine College on a baseball
scholarship and graduated in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in History.
Coach Owen began his coaching career during the 1994-1995 season as a graduate-assistant
coach at Erskine College. During
this time, he served as a recruiter and catching coach. He is currently in his 11th season as an assistant coach at
Emerald High School. Coach
Owen has proven to be a big part of the winning tradition that has developed in the Viking baseball program.
Jimmy is married to Dee Owen who teaches math at Westview Middle School. Jimmy
has two daughters, Joesi (13) and Audre (2). He is currently employed at Capsugel, where he is a change-over
specialist. The couple attends Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
Nate Hamilton - Assistant Coach
Coach Nate Hamilton is a 1995 graduate of River Valley High School in
Marion, Ohio. He attended Lander University and graduated
in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education.
Coach Hamilton has served as an assistant coach with Greenwood American Legion
Post 20, Lander University, and Greenwood High School. He joined the Emaerald baseball program in 2010.
Nate is married to Laura Hamilton who teaches at Edgewood Middle School
in Ninety Six. They have two children, Catherine (4) and Emmett
(2). He is currently employed at Fuji, where he is a Distribution Planner.
